McNichols Clinic, Dixon Illinois (DOJ Settlement)

“Enforcing the ADA – Update”  April-Sept 2000

The DOJ signed an agreement with the above medical clinic resolving a complaint by a deaf parent who alleged that the clinic refused to provide a sign language interpreter when her child needed medical treatment.  The clinic paid the complainant $250 and agreed to adopt policies and procedures that will ensure effective communication with deaf or hard-of-hearing patients and their companions, including the provision of sign language interpreters when appropriate.
